"I once knew about Him. Now, I behold Him."

My name is Alyssa Flaten, and my life is a testimony to the transformative power of Jesus. For too long, I was paralyzed by disillusionment and frustration, unable to embrace the life Jesus promised. He has healed my heart and changed my story, and that is why I am here. I am passionate about moving beyond "head knowledge" to help others encounter the healing beauty of Jesus through Spirit-led counseling, discipleship, and immersive teaching.

I believe that to lead others into wholeness, we must first be students of the Heart. My approach is rooted in both deep biblical study and practical mental health training.

• Ministry & Education: I am a credentialed pastor and evangelist with the Assemblies of God and hold a B.S. in Art Education as well as  credentials in both Biblical Counseling and Professional Mental Health Coaching.
• Heart Healing Expertise: I am a graduate and instructor for Elijah House’s School of Heart Healing and a graduate of Sunodia School of Ministry, where I completed an internship in Biblical Counseling.
• Discipleship & Training: Currently, I have the honor of serving as a heart counselor and teacher for Jesus School in Ames, Iowa.

I am married to Scott Flaten, who shepherds the culture of worship and prayer at King’s People Church, in Ames, Iowa. and together we founded Intentional Worship Ministries—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit devoted to cultivating wholehearted worship and devotion to Jesus.

Behold Him is an initiative of our organization that carries this same heartbeat: to return to our First Love by seeing Him rightly, so we can live and love with whole-hearted devotion.
